Fall 2020 Grandparent Newsletter
A Message & Invitation
from
Head of School Lee Fertig

Dear Nueva Grandparents,

I am overjoyed to officially be at Nueva as its new head of school, and to experience firsthand this remarkable community's unwavering dedication to learning by doing and learning by caring.

We are completing our first months of the 2020-2021 school year, and, albeit beginning remotely, our exceptional faculty and staff continue to demonstrate their commitment to enable our gifted learners—your grandchildrento make choices that benefit the world.

As we continue to plan for the very best Nueva experience for all of our learners, faculty, staff, and families, we are currently preparing to bring our students back to campus during the next few weeks. The well-being of our community remains our priority, and we have created a thorough health and safety plan to support us in our broader return to campus and in-person learning. Our learning models this year will inevitably continue to adjust to a constantly shifting landscape, and we confidently believe that we have the ability to bring students back to campus purposefully, safely, and joyfully. Details about each of these measures can be found in our Return to In-Person Learning Plan.

I look forward to sharing more about myself, our progress in returning to in-person learning, and providing updates about our Nueva community at our virtual Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day on Friday, November 20. I hope to see you there!

Best,
Lee Fertig

NUEVA CUP:
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

Due to gathering restrictions, the Nueva Cup will now be remote—go figure, our 13th annual golf tournament would run into some bad luck!

This cherished event will feature a new format, where all registered participants will independently complete their round of golf throughout the month of October and submit their scores by Saturday, October 31.

Proceeds from the Nueva Cup will benefit the alumni and athletics programs.

Nueva Book Fair
Since 1982, an annual event our community looks forward to is the Nueva Book Fair, where we celebrate our love of books and help support literacy programs at Nueva.

This year's virtual Book Fair will be hosted from October 30 to November 13, and we invite you to join us and explore the more than 1,100 books hand-selected for your grandchild(ren). If you would like to give the gift of reading to your grandchild(ren), electronic gift cards are available for purchase to support the avid reader and creative thinker in your family.

Gift cards will be available for purchase at www.nuevabookfair.org beginning on October 23. If you have any questions, please email bookfair@nuevaschool.org.
